From the desk of Brittany Watkins
A letter for the woman who has tried everything

It Was Never About the Food

Why every diet was doomed before you started it, why a weekly shot can’t reach it either, what’s actually been running your eating since you were a little girl, and the way out that takes minutes, not years.

Is there a way to end your struggle with food… the cravings, the nine o’clock kitchen rummaging, the extra weight?

A way out that is practical, easygoing, even joyful?

Free from dieting. Free from willpower or any kind of suffering?

Yes.

And no… I don’t mean a shot.

I know it feels like everyone around you is on one right now. Your sister. Your friend from work. Half the moms in the pickup line, suddenly smaller. And you’re standing there wondering if you’re the last woman in America still trying to figure this out on her own.

Maybe you’ve already decided you’ll never touch it. Maybe you’re on it and quietly dreading the day it stops.

Either way, keep reading… Because I’m about to show you why no diet, no workout plan, and not even “the shot” will ever fix your weight problem… and what will.

And here’s the part that sounds impossible until it happens to you.

The “fix” takes minutes. Not months. No gym. No meal prep. No food scale. A few minutes, a few times a day, right inside the life you’re already living… folding laundry, sitting in the pickup line, standing in your own kitchen staring inside the fridge at 9 p.m.

And when it’s done, it stays done. Every diet you’ve ever tried put you in charge of guarding the pantry… for the rest of your life. The shot just quiets the craving… for as long as you keep taking it. This removes it.

Once it’s gone, there’s nothing left to guard.

How do I know? Because more than 250,000 women just like you have used my method… including the ones who showed up saying, “I have tried everything, and I mean everything.” Diets. Pills. Surgery. The shot.

I used to BE YOU…

I was fifteen when I came home to find my things on the front porch with a note: “You no longer live here.” That’s when my food issues began. The binging. The obsessive exercise. More than fifty failed diets… and not one of them held.

In my early twenties, a therapist introduced me to tapping. And it helped with everything. The pain of being abandoned by my parents. The anxiety. The loneliness. My whole LIFE started getting better.

Except for one thing.

The food.

By twenty-four, I was one of the highest-paid executives at a large national bank. I had a fancy car. A house overlooking a golf course. And I was still binging at night, all alone at home where nobody could see…

One day, I’d had enough. I needed work with MEANING and purpose… and I was willing to trade my fancy life for it.

I walked away from that career and got certified in EFT Tapping. Then NLP, Rapid Eye Therapy, shamanic soul retrieval, Reiki… every healing method I could get my hands on. I spent years helping other people heal.

I was a certified tapping practitioner. I tapped on the cravings. I tapped on the binges. And the next night, I was right back in the pantry.

That’s when I knew. Something was missing. Regular EFT tapping couldn’t solve this problem… and I was going to be the one who did.

In 2012, I packed two suitcases, one with my clothes and the other with 27 of my most coveted psychology books… and moved to Playa del Carmen, Mexico. I showed up exhausted, with adrenal fatigue, carrying extra weight. One morning I went for a walk on the beach, and the whole method came to me. Step by step.

Call it intuition, call it channeling, call it God tapping me on the shoulder… I’ve stopped trying to name it.

I tried it on my craving for chocolate and for the first time in my life, the craving was GONE, and IT NEVER CAME BACK.

I kept using it, step by step, just as it was given to me… and the weight came off without me even trying.

That was the birth of Echo Tapping.

And then I lived it. Twelve years without food noise… no cravings, no 9 p.m. rummaging through the pantry, no arguing with myself in the kitchen. I ate when I was hungry, I stopped when I was full, and in between I just didn’t think about food.

And I’m so certain of what I’m about to show you that I’ve put $100,000 on the table against the entire weight-loss industry.

I · The fight you know

First, put down your weapons

I’m going to ask you to do something strange: stop.

Stop the counting. The restricting. The punishing Monday restarts. Set them all down.

Diets work just long enough to convince you the failure was yours. Then they hand you back the same cravings… plus a fresh layer of guilt.

There’s a much easier way. It’s actually pleasant.

And I know this subject has made you cry. I even know when.

Not while you’re eating. While you’re eating, there’s relief. The pain comes later, lying in bed, when the voice starts:

“Why did I eat all that? What is wrong with me? I was doing so well.”

Now you’re not just full. You’re attacking yourself in the dark.

If you’ve lived that moment, keep reading. This letter is your way out of it… for good.

If counting calories worked for you, you wouldn’t be reading this

They told you weight is simple math: calories in, calories out, plus willpower.

I don’t need pages to argue with that. I need one piece of evidence, and you’re holding it.

If counting calories worked for you,
you would not be reading this letter.

You’ve done the math for years. You know the calories in a tablespoon of peanut butter by heart. Most women who come to me know more about nutrition than their doctors… and still eat at 9 p.m. the thing they swore off at 8 a.m.

Some of them are on the shot right now… and still standing at the fridge at 9 p.m.

So you don’t have a “knowing” problem. You already know what to eat. Your brain knows. But your brain isn’t the one reaching for the cookies at 9 p.m. Something else is.

And that “something else” doesn’t care what you know.

“But it’s genetic.” Maybe some of it. But two sisters can grow up in the same kitchen, eating the same casseroles, and end up with different bodies decades later.

Two sisters, same casserole: one gains, one doesn't

“It’s my metabolism. My thyroid. My age. My hormones.” Sometimes there’s a real medical piece, so please get it checked, truly. But notice: did your thyroid open the pantry after that phone call with your mother? Did your hormones eat the crackers in the car where nobody could see?

Be honest with yourself for a second. Was your stomach empty either time?

Probably not. The eating doesn’t run on your stomach’s schedule. It runs on your FEELINGS.

Scientists have even found where this happens. Your brain has a hunger dial. It turns your hunger up and down all day long.

And the thing that turns it up the most is stress.

When you’re stressed, your body makes a hormone called cortisol. Cortisol makes you crave sugar, bread, and chips… the comfort foods. So you keep reaching, even when you’re full.

Your body isn’t asking for food because it’s hungry. It’s asking because food makes the bad feeling stop. Fast.

To your body, food isn’t fuel. It’s an off-switch.

Research note: appetite regulation via hypothalamus/leptin/ghrelin (Lenard & Berthoud 2008) · stress-cortisol → cravings (Epel 2001; Chao 2017).

This is the same place the shot works, by the way. The shot turns that hunger dial down. That’s why it can feel like a miracle at first. The noise just… stops.

But the shot only turns the dial. It can’t touch the reason your body reaches for food when you’re stressed or sad. That reason is still there… waiting.

And you know what it feels like when “someone else” is doing the eating. You’ve said it yourself: “It’s like I watch my hand doing it.”

Hold onto that. In a few minutes, you’re going to meet who that someone else is.

The magazine rack that proves everything

Walk past the magazine rack in any grocery store. Every single month, your entire life, there’s been a new diet on those covers.

Stop and think about what that actually means.

If any of them worked,
there would be no next month’s diet.
Fifty years of 'new diet' magazine covers

Think about it. Nobody writes a new cure for a problem that’s already solved.

And the research agrees. In a big review of long-term diet studies, most dieters gained the weight back within a few years. Up to two out of three ended up heavier than when they started.

All those new diets on all those covers prove one thing: everyone has been digging in the wrong spot.

And now the cover has changed. This month, it’s a shot.

I’m not against the shot. Some women need it. Many chose it after years of fighting this alone, and I respect that. But turning down the hunger dial doesn’t fix why it got turned up.

And if you’ve already decided the shot isn’t for you… trust that. Your gut is asking the right question: What happens when you stop?

The answer isn’t pretty.

In the big semaglutide trial, people who stopped the shot gained back about two-thirds of the weight they’d lost within one year. In a tirzepatide trial, people who stopped gained back much of their weight over the next year.

And not all of the weight they lost was fat. In one body-scan study, about 40% was lean mass. That includes muscle.

Chart: two-thirds of the weight loss came back within a year after stopping the medication

Research note: Mann et al., 2007 · regain after semaglutide withdrawal (Wilding et al., Diabetes Obes Metab 2022, STEP 1 extension) · regain after tirzepatide withdrawal (Aronne et al., JAMA 2024, SURMOUNT-4) · lean-mass share of weight lost (Wilding et al., NEJM 2021, STEP 1 DXA substudy).

If the shot fixed the cause,
stopping it wouldn’t scare you.

So many women write to me terrified of the day they stop. That fear is her body telling her the truth… something underneath was never touched.

So where’s the right spot? The answer is going to seem like it comes from a different world than dieting. It does.

II · The hidden machine

What WAR and FOOD have in common…

We all know what war can do to a soldier.

He comes home. He’s safe now. Then a car backfires in a parking lot… and his body reacts like he’s back in battle. His heart races. He ducks. He doesn’t decide to. It just happens.

We have a name for this: PTSD. There are whole programs and doctors just to help soldiers heal from it. And nobody looks at that soldier and says, “Just get over it.”

Because we all understand what happened. Something so scary happened to him that it changed how his body reacts. It rewired him.

We don’t call that weakness. We call it wiring.

Unsafe moment, software changes, protection runs itself

Now here’s what the newer research shows, and it’s the sentence this whole letter turns on:

It doesn’t take a war.

What happened to that soldier has a name: trauma. And trauma doesn’t only come from war. It can come from moments much, much smaller.

Trauma is any moment you didn’t feel safe.

It could be something big, like abuse. Or something “silly,” like being picked last for dodgeball. A comment about your body at the dinner table. A door you learned not to knock on. The day the house went quiet and nobody would tell you why.

Small moments. But you were small too…

And those moments didn’t go away. Your body saved them, the same way the soldier’s body saved the war. I call them echoes. Each echo is a younger you, frozen in that moment… still waiting, ready to sound the alarm the second something feels unsafe again.

A filing cabinet labeled Echoes

The rules an eight-year-old wrote for you

Every echo left behind a rule. A little girl wrote it, to keep herself safe.

Rules like: Don’t cry. Don’t need too much. Food makes it better. Don’t let them see you.

Women on my calls go quiet when I tell them this part:

You weren’t twenty-five when you decided what food means, what being seen means, what wanting things means. You were eight.

An eight-year-old wrote those rules. You’ve followed them for forty years. Nobody ever asked you if they still made sense.

And you have thousands of them. Invisible fences, still standing… long after whatever they were protecting you from is gone.

Then something took the job

Rules need an enforcer, something to keep you safe when the alarm rings.

For us, for women like us, food took the job.

Best friend. Bodyguard. Reward. Mute button for feelings it wasn’t safe to feel. And for some of us the weight itself took a job: armor, a way to stay unseen, a way to keep something at bay.

I want to say this plainly, because no one ever says it to you:

The weight is doing something FOR you.
A cookie bodyguard, hired at age 8, never updated

In the 1980s, a doctor named Vincent Felitti ran a weight-loss clinic. And he had a strange problem. Patients kept quitting. But they weren’t the ones failing… They were the ones losing weight.

So he asked them why. And story after story of childhood pain came pouring out.

One woman told him: “Overweight is overlooked, and that’s the way I need to be.”

That little clinic led to one of the biggest health studies ever done, with more than 17,000 adults. It found that the more pain a person carried from childhood, the more health problems they had as adults.

The mystery that started the ACE study

And THAT is what you’ve actually been fighting all these years.

The cravings: that ice cream that keeps calling your name from the freezer, the night eating… The doing-great-until-you’re-not. The self-sabotage that shows up right when things start working.

You were never fighting food.

You were fighting your own security system.
And you cannot out-willpower a system whose one job is to keep you ALIVE.

Then the bill comes… and why you keep paying it

The weight. The food noise. One woman told me it’s like “a stadium full of people screaming EAT SUGAR.” The photos you stay out of.

Then the cruelest part: you attack yourself for all of it.

To your nervous system, shame feels like danger. And danger is exactly what sends you to the food. So the shame sends you back to the pantry… and the pantry hands you more shame.

It runs itself. For decades.

Your safety system running on old information

Now put it all together, and here’s what you get:

You never had a willpower problem. Your body’s safety system is running on old information.

Every diet you ever “failed” was you trying to use willpower on a wiring problem. It was like fanning away smoke while the fire kept burning in a room nobody ever showed you.

So I need you to hear two things.

First: it was never your fault. You’re not weak. You’re not lazy. This was programming, put there when you were a little girl, before you had any say. It would have happened to anyone.

(And the naturally thin friend who “just forgets to eat”? She isn’t better than you. Food just got wired to different things in her childhood. That’s all.)

Second: this can be fixed. You can’t change who you are… but you can change wiring.

“I just did the echo tapping for the second time and had an amazing experience. I can see clearly that I’m not craving food, I’m craving love that I felt was denied me. This is changing my life.”

III · The gentler way out

The twist: the ice cream is your roadmap

Now the thing that makes what I do different from every diet AND every therapy you’ve ever considered.

Everyone else fights the pattern. We walk through it.

Because here’s the secret hiding inside your “worst enemy”: your past actually lives in your food.

Let me explain…

When that ice cream is calling you from the freezer at 9 p.m., that’s not the enemy attacking. That’s a doorway. The ice cream marks the exact spot where an old memory (or echo) is still alive and needs to be healed.

What you see: a craving. What's really there: a younger you

You don’t have to dig through your whole childhood on a therapist’s couch for years.

The ice cream carries the GPS coordinates…

My method: don’t feed it, don’t fight it… heal it

Here’s what happens tonight, the old way: the urge to eat something rises, and you either obey it (the pantry) or fight it (willpower, gum, cold water… or a shot). Both treat the craving as an order.

The new way: you sit down with it… and you heal it.

It’s called Echo Tapping, and I created it.

You notice what’s in your body: a tightness, a flutter, a buzzing, a HORRIBLE FEELING THAT YOU HATE… GREAT! You’ve identified it. THAT’S STEP 1.

STEP 2: you tap a specific series of points on the face and upper body. These points are wired straight into your nervous system’s alarm circuits.

Then Echo Tapping does what ordinary tapping never did for me. It follows the craving back to the memory (aka the echo) it came from… and heals THAT.

Echo Tapping was built for this one moment… when you’re facing the choice: To EAT, or NOT to Eat.

Regular tapping is like pulling up one weed at a time…

Echo Tapping pulls up the root so the weeds never come back.

How to stop eating sugar

And something even better happens when you heal an echo at its root instead of fighting it. The pattern doesn’t just quiet. It collapses.

One of my students worked on a donut craving, just the donut, and told me afterward, a little stunned: “the rest of my sugar cravings kind of went away as well.” One echo cleared, a whole category of cravings gone.

That’s the difference between managing behaviors and healing the ROOT CAUSE: diets and the shot play whack-a-mole with hundreds of behaviors. Heal one ROOT cause with Echo Tapping, and dozens of behaviors fall over together.

“UNHEARD of I am telling you!!!!”

“I am absolutely STUNNED that I am feeling absolutely no pull toward sweets today. My brother picked up some sweets for me last night and they have sat in my drawer all day and I have not had a single one… and no desire for it.”

Who’s really in the fridge at 9 p.m.?

Inside every woman there are three voices: a little girl who wants, a strict parent who scolds… and you, the grown-up who runs the house.

Here’s what actually happens in the kitchen at 9 p.m. The adult clocks out. She’s been on since 5:45 a.m. and has nothing left. And the child comes up. What does a five-year-old know about consequences? Her whole consciousness is “I want.” Hers is the hand that reaches into the pantry…

Then the food ends, the child skips off, and the parent arrives: “How could you? You were doing so well. You’re pathetic.”

The child, the parent, and the adult finally in the room

So look at what your “eating problem” has actually been: a hurting child eating, and a harsh parent punishing her, taking turns, while YOU, the conscious adult reading this message, were never in the room.

Every diet you’ve tried was just the overbearing parent with a clipboard. No wonder nothing has worked… you’ve been restricting the WRONG PERSON!

But that child isn’t reaching for food because she’s bad. She’s reaching because she’s carrying the echoes (the memories from the past). When you sit down and tap through an urge, that little girl is, at last, being heard, comforted and healed instead of yelled at or punished.

That’s why the eating stops. Because you finally rescued her, not because you overpowered her.

“Not feeling deprived at all! In fact, feeling nourished by the adult who now understands and is able to communicate to that child seeking safety, that it’s not in the food.”

Why you’re “good” all day and lose it at night

Willpower is like your phone battery. At 8 a.m., it’s at 100%. By 9 p.m.? It’s at 2%.

Willpower runs on a battery. You didn't fail. Your battery died.

Every diet you’ve ever tried ran on that battery. That’s why you were “good” all day and lost it at night. You didn’t fail. Your battery died.

Echo Tapping doesn’t run on willpower. It doesn’t need a battery at all.

How much time does it take? Put a stopwatch on it, and you’d struggle to add up one full hour over the weeks that change everything.

Twenty years of dieting… or one hour of feeling. That’s the trade.

And here’s what happens a few months in. Women tell me something strange.

They forget to eat.

The clock says 2 p.m., and they realize they haven’t even thought about lunch. One Thrive student told me:

T

“All my food noise went away.”

Read that again. The woman who couldn’t stop thinking about food… now forgets to eat!

The noise just ended. Because the hunger was never coming from her stomach.

I’m looking for a small group of women

Now you’ve seen the whole machine. The echoes. The rules. The bodyguard. The loop.

So let me tell you what I’m doing next.

I’m looking for a small group of women to work with me, personally, inside Thrive.

Not everyone. A small group. And I’m picky about who gets in.

Here’s who I’m looking for

You’re tired. You’ve tried everything… the diets, the apps, maybe the shot. And part of you is done fighting.

But another part of you hasn’t given up. There’s something in you that still believes there’s an answer. That’s why you’re still reading.

You’re ready to look at what’s underneath. Even the hard stuff.

And you’ll show up. Not perfectly. Just honestly.

Here’s who I’m NOT looking for

If you want a quick fix, this isn’t it.

If you want a meal plan to follow for 30 days, this isn’t it.

If you’re just curious, and not quite ready to change anything yet, that’s okay. It just means now isn’t your time.

“But Brittany, I already have your 6-week program.”

Then you might be exactly who I’m looking for.

You already know Echo Tapping works. You’ve felt a craving disappear.

But let me ask you something. Did you finish it?

If you did, I’m proud of you. If you didn’t, you’re not alone. Most women who buy a program on their own never get to the end. Life gets busy. The videos pile up. That isn’t a willpower problem. It’s the battery again.

The 6-week program was never the complete system. It’s the starting point.

L
Linda6-week program, then Thrive

“About 20 lbs. in Thrive.”

“I lost 30 lbs total in both the 6 week and Thrive program. About 20 lbs. in Thrive… The ease of the release of weight in TandT was so different for me after I struggled so much before.”

Thrive is where we go all the way. And it looks very different:

Thrive, we go all the way: live classes, blind spot work, twice a month with Brittany, coaches trained 2+ years

You won’t do it alone. My coaches teach you live, in small classes. If you’re the kind of woman who buys a course and never finishes the videos, you don’t have to. You just show up.

We find your blind spots. Nobody can see their own blind spots. That’s what makes them blind spots. The echoes driving your eating the hardest are usually the ones you’d never think to tap on. Your coach works with you one-on-one to find every one of them… and heal them with you.

You work with me. Twice a month, you get time with me directly.

And your coach has been where you are. Every coach on my team did this work on herself first. Then she trained with me for more than two years before I let her coach anyone.

M
MichelleThink & Thin Thrive student

“My private coach was phenomenal”

“She knew exactly what was blocking me from my goal weight, and after just a few sessions with her everything started to shift and I couldn’t have done it without my coach.”

That’s why the group stays small. There are only so many coaches I trust with this.

Why I’m doing this now

Because the world just changed.

Everywhere you look, women are on the shot, coming off the shot, or wondering if they should start. Never have more women been told that turning down the hunger dial is the answer.

And never have more women been quietly scared of what happens when it stops.

I’ve spent almost 15 years helping women heal the ROOT CAUSE of this. I can’t sit this moment out.

So here it is.

We start November 16th. That’s right before the holidays: Thanksgiving, the parties, the cookie trays, the family dinners. All the moments the old wiring loves most.

Most programs tell you to wait until January. I think the holidays are the best time to start… because every craving is a doorway, and this time of year they’re everywhere. This year, you walk into them with your coach beside you.

E
ElizabethThink & Thin Thrive student

“I ended up LOSING 12 pounds.”

“I went home for 2 months for the holiday season, I was around my family, we were going to fundraisers and parties, there was alcohol and food everywhere…and I ended up LOSING 12 pounds. That makes 70 total!!”

And there are only 15 spots.

That number comes from the coaches I trust with this work. I only have 5 coaches at the moment, and I won’t stretch them thinner to fit more women in. Once the 15 spots are filled, the doors close.

What we’ll do together

Think of Thrive like climbing one mountain. There are three stops on the way up, and each one answers a question you’ve been asking your whole life.

One mountain, three questions

Camp 1 · Quiet the noise

“Why do I keep doing this?”

First, we turn down the food noise. Food grabs you in four ways, and we’ll heal all four:

That last one isn’t really about food at all. It’s the door to the deeper work.

Camp 2 · Rewrite the software

“Why does nothing work?”

Next, we find what’s been blocking your weight loss. There are 12 common blocks, and we clear them one by one.

Then we work on your “set point.” That’s the weight your body keeps pulling you back to, no matter what you do. Your body holds on to it because it thinks the weight is keeping you safe. When it doesn’t need that protection anymore, it can finally let go.

And we heal the echoes, and the rules that little girl wrote.

Camp 3 · Reclaim your life

“Who would I be without this?”

This is the top of the mountain. You stop fighting your body and start liking the woman in the mirror. Not as a poster on the wall. For real.

And you get to say the words so many women in Thrive have said to me:

“I got myself back.”

My three promises to you:

  1. Food freedom.
  2. Your natural weight, without dieting.
  3. A life on your terms.

You can start with whichever one you want most. It’s the same mountain.

You can’t diet your way out of a safety system.
You can only heal it.

So here’s how this works

I don’t let anyone just buy their way in. The first step is a conversation, to see if we’re a good fit. For you, and for me.

If you’ve made it this far, and you know this is for you, you don’t have to read another word.

Book my call

If you’re still with me… there’s one more thing I need to tell you.

IV · The life beyond food

Before you decide anything… a confession

I under-promise. On purpose.

I tell women I can end their lifelong fight with food. I tell them I can fix the weight problem for good. And I do both.

But that was never the real prize.

Because the wiring you just learned about was never ONLY running your eating.

The fences are everywhere

You know those invisible fences people use for dogs? There’s a wire buried in the yard. When the dog gets close to the edge, its collar gives it a little shock.

After a few shocks, the dog learns. It stops going near the edge.

And here’s the sad part. Even after you turn the fence off… the dog still won’t cross. The dog is free. It just doesn’t know it.

Invisible fences. You're free. You just don't know it yet.

That’s what those rules from childhood do. Don’t cry. Don’t need too much. Don’t let them see you. They’re your invisible fences. You got “shocked” when you were little, so you stopped going after what you want. And as an adult, you’re still keeping yourself small, even though the danger is long gone.

When women in my programs start clearing those fences, they find out something big: the fences were never only around the pantry.

There’s one around your career. The promotion you didn’t go for. One around your marriage. The talk you keep not having. One around your voice. How fast “never mind” comes out of your mouth. One around money. One around photos. One around wanting anything at all.

Same little girl. Same rules. Same echoes. Keeping your life small…

Heal the root, and it doesn’t just heal your eating.
It heals your whole life.
K

“We’re so happy and in love!”

My marriage was in the toilet. It went from nearly ending to thriving…the energy between us is just totally different now, we’re so happy and in love!

K

“…and I lost 24 pounds!!!”

“My dad and I connected on this level I just never thought we would. I’m not afraid to be ME, or ask for what I need… and I lost 24 pounds!!!”

This is for the unreasonable ones

Most women make peace with the fences. They call it being realistic. Being fine.

But some women stop in the middle of their own life and say:

“Something is missing. And it’s not okay.”

If that’s you, you’re who I’m looking for.

When the fences come down, those women don’t just lose the weight. They don’t just make peace with food.

They THRIVE.
In every area of their life.

That’s why it’s called Thrive.

The unreasonable thing isn’t believing this is possible. It’s letting a dead battery run your nights for one more year.

What steals your life isn’t the weight. It’s the war about the weight. And now you know how to end it.

One last time

You were never weak. You were wired incorrectly, as a little girl, and it wasn’t your fault.

The wiring can be healed. Gently. Minutes a day. No dieting. No Shots. No suffering.

Be good to the little girl… She’s been trying to get your attention for a long time.

P.S. We start November 16th, right before the holidays, and there are only 15 spots. The first step is a conversation to see if we’re a fit. If something in you just said “this is me,” don’t wait. The schedule fills up very fast!
